Dale Earnhardt Jr. received a warm gift, symbolic of his father’s legacy, from Danny “Chocolate” Myers and Kirk Shelmerdine in the latest episode of Dale Jr Download. Chocolate Myers worked as fuel for the team no. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet.
He was an integral part of the pit crew during Dale Earnhardt Sr.’s six victories. in the championship with RCR. Kirk Shelmerdine was the crew chief of the no. 3 Chevrolet from 1984 to 1992. In a recent episode of Dale Jr. Download, Myers gave Dale Earnhardt Jr., worth $300 million (via Celebrity Net Worth), his father’s iconic glasses as a gift. Myers fondly remembers how he collected the glasses from Chevrolet No. 3 every week after the race. “I was prepared to come here, I looked around and I said to myself: I’m right in some points. And don’t forget that I was the guy who, when we came back from the race track, got out, put the car on the ‘lift, he was cleaning, and your father always took them off and left them in the rear-view mirror. These are your father’s glasses,’ said Myers.
The former Flying Aces RCR pit crew member also said that these particular glasses were from a Daytona Duel victory that he had written on his belt. However, he later admits that he forgot to mention the year:
“I wrote on the belt when I took it out of the ‘Daytona 125 Winner’ car.” Unfortunately, when I wrote this for him, I didn’t include the year. So it could be [any year] … because we’ve won ten years in a row and no one is ever going to do it. So I wanted to offer you these to hang on your wall.
Dale Earnhardt Sr. he won 10 consecutive doubleheaders between 1990 and 1999 and won 34 races at Daytona International Speedway, including victory in the 1998 Daytona 500.
