Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo have both been nominated for the 2023/24 PFA Young Player of the Year award.
Voted for by their peers, the PFA awards are among the most prestigious available to players in the UK, and both Garna and Kobbie have been recognised after impressive 2023/24 campaigns, respectively.
Both Academy graduates scored in our FA Cup final victory back in May, capping seasons where they cemented themselves in Erik ten Hag’s side.

Kobbie began the season on the sidelines, due to being injured in our Tour 2023 game against Real Madrid and, after working his way back to fitness, grasped his opportunity with both hands.
Sublime strikes at Wolves and against Liverpool at Old Trafford were standout moments, but the 19-year-old’s overall composure and intelligence showed maturity beyond his age and immediately endeared him with our supporters.
A first England call-up followed, setting the midfielder on a path that would see him start for the Three Lions in the Euro 2024 final in Germany.
Now back at Carrington and eager to start the new season, Mainoo’s nomination for this award is a moment to reflect on what has been a whirlwind 12 months for the Stockport-born playmaker.
Garnacho’s year followed a similar trajectory, with the Argentina international starring throughout 2023/24 for Ten Hag’s team and producing one of the best goals the Premier League – and the world – has ever seen with his incredible bicycle kick at Everton.
Alejandro further developed last term and, as his nomination for the PFA Young Player of the Year award illustrates, this has been recognised by his peers.
Following an impressive season, and that goal in the FA Cup final, Garna went to the USA with Argentina and returned to United with a Copa America medal alongside Reds team-mate Lisandro Martinez.

The winner of the 2023/24 PFA Young Player of the Year award will be announced at their annual ceremony on Tuesday 20 August.
Good luck to you both, Kobbie and Garna!
