The quarterback has only played in the opening few quarters of games until September to get used to the structure of the game.

Mahomes and Travis Kelce had a game last Saturday against the Detroit Lions that will undoubtedly go down in history.

The ironic part is that the great stars of Kansas City created their artwork “unintentionally.”

The viral move by the Chiefs pair

The play of the game was made by Mahomes and Kelce in the Detroit Lions’ 24–23 defeat. And one that continues to ring true.

The quarterback staged a handoff and then hit tight end Travis Kelce with a spectacular behind-the-back ball with 6:16 remaining in the first quarter. Kelce completed the catch and electrified the fans.

It was unfortunate that there was not a touchdown on the drive. Even though Kansas City had to settle for a field goal, they still produced an unforgettable moment.

In actuality, though, the signal-caller made up this move to penalize the tight end. The outcome was amazing because these two superstars are exceptionally skilled at what they do.

Mahomes’ justification

The two Mahomes explained the background of their on-field paintings because of how quickly the crowd responded to their move.

Indeed. To cut a long tale short, Travis did not run the route that was assigned to him, and because I was upset, it was kind of a behind-the-back pass. In an interview on the pitch, Mahomes stated, “I was furious with Travis,” while the gathering of media members chuckled in the background.

By “surprising” the TE with his pass, the QB was essentially punishing him for his error.

“I do not know if you can hear me on the broadcast, but he was not supposed to run a flat route. So, out of spite, I threw a behind-the-back pass, but now it is going to be a highlight.”

Mahomes has once again demonstrated his remarkable and extraterrestrial abilities, shocking none of the people around him.

It was entirely improvised. It can not be planned, is what I have been attempting to convey to everyone. It must be occurring organically, sort of in the flow of things, and I honestly forgot about it until halftime, when someone brought it up to me.

It simply sort of happened; it was not like I planned it at all or that it was a called play.

“I just threw it behind my back and it worked out for us because I was like, ‘Gosh, darn it, Travis.’”

Kelce’s version of events

Following his conversation with Pat Mahomes regarding his plans to make the behind-the-back pass, Travis Kelce was questioned about what had truly transpired.

As everyone knows, the receiver began by making fun of his teammate and pal.

He began, mimicking Mahomes’ nasalized voice, “You know he is got the voice thing, and so he kind of mumbled out the play [and] I could not hear it.” As I approached the line, I was attempting to understand what he was saying when all of a sudden, he snapped the ball.

I was attempting to go help my buddy when I noticed him out of the corner of my eye saying, “Run to the sideline.” When I looked over there, he was already in mid-form—like a picture on a sports card—and was throwing the ball to me, so I suppose it was the right place at the right time.

It is noteworthy that they succeeded in converting the third down.

Remarks made by Andy Reid from the sidelines

Andy Reid, the team’s head coach and “father,” observed everything from the sidelines, and it was clear that nothing was prearranged.

As long as one thing was kept under control, he stated he was okay with the play.

“Travis Kelce was allegedly blamed by him, but that is well. He practices it daily, and as long as it is finished, that is all that matters to me.

With any chance, the 2024 season will feature more of these works of art—but intentionally this time.
