Five races added to van Gisbergen’s NASCAR Cup Series schedule

Shane van Gisbergen will have  an intense season to  finish his first full season in NASCAR with  five more Cup Series races  added to his schedule.

Kaulig Racing will  drive the  no. van  Gisbergen’s 16 this Saturday night at Daytona International Speedway, followed by Darlington Raceway (Sept. 1), Atlanta Motor Speedway (Sept. 8), Watkins Glen (Sept. 15), Talladega Superspeedway (Oct. 6), Las Vegas Motor Speedway  (October 1). French: November 20) and Martinsville Speedway  (November 3). races,” van  Gisbergen said. “I came to  run.”Initially, van Gisbergen was  scheduled to compete in six Cup Series races this season;  he has already competed  at Circuit of the Americas, Talladega Superspeedway, Charlotte Motor  Speedway and  Chicago  Street Speedway.

Watkins Glen and Las Vegas were the other two races on his original  schedule.”I was told when I  arrived in the  United States that Darlington was the  hardest track on the  circuit and I  cannot dispute  that , but I immediately fell in love with the  country,” said van Gisbergen.  “It’s a lot of fun to drive and  I’m looking forward to  driving a Cup car  here.” As for Atlanta, we finished third there in  my second Xfinity  Series start, so  it was  a little crazy.
I have  a lot more experience now and I  enjoy going to the track  every week. »The New Zealander is a  contracted driver with Trackhouse  Racing who competes full-time for Kaulig Racing in the Xfinity Series. Kaulig Racing  brings van Gisbergen  into the Cup Series  with its second car, which is used as an All-Star car for various drivers.

In the Xfinity Series, van Gisbergen has three  regular season  wins. The 35-year-old  driver is expected to  move to full-time Cup Series racing next season with Trackhouse  Racing. “This season has been  very rewarding for me, but  I’ve loved every moment of it.  It’s a lot of fun to  compete for a NASCAR Xfinity Series  championship and  have the chance to race in the Cup  Series against the best of the  best,” said van Gisbergen.  “For me, the road courses are a  classic race, but the ovals are a  challenge that I  hope to  face soon.  I’m looking forward to this second half of the  season.”
