Jaguars tight end Mack Jones was called QB1 material by NFL fans after his preseason win over the Falcons.

After his time with the New England Patriots ended this offseason, Mac Jones proved he can still be a starting quarterback. The Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback put together a strong preseason highlighted by a solid performance in Friday’s 31-0 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Jones had 113 passing yards and a touchdown on 13-of-18 passing. After another impressive outing, fans were claiming Jones could be a starter for multiple NFL teams.

In his first preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Jones went 9-of-11 for 98 passing yards. He threw for 210 yards and two touchdowns against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Jones struggled last season in his final year with the Patriots, finishing with 2,120 passing yards, 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 11 games. It was clear that he and New England needed a change, and a fresh start in Jacksonville could help Jones revitalize his career. Jones is unlikely to unseat Trevor Lawrence as the Jags’ starting quarterback this season, but Jacksonville can be confident he can keep his spot if he is called up this year. Jones is scheduled to become a free agent next season as well, so he can move to a new team and return to a starting role.
