Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, claims to have had “promising” discussions regarding CeeDee Lamb’s contract extension.
However, Stephen A. Smith, star of First Take, isn’t having any of it. Jones is making steps to convince supporters that the holdout by the standout wide receiver for the Cowboys might soon come to an end. Still, Smith thinks there is still a significant gulf between the parties.
“I’m not buying that,” he said.
“Given that the market worth at present time is 136.4 million dollars, or roughly 34 million year, I can see why those people would purchase it. Dallas is supposedly at about 33, which doesn’t seem too far off.
“Because you know one play can end your season, if not your career.
“You can’t take chances, you got to make sure you get all that you can.”

Smith believes that Lamb, 25, is correct to try and cash in while he can.
And he raised the prospect that the wideout will miss the start of the season.
“These guys today particularly wide receivers, we know they’re pretty much all divas,” he said. “Therefore, they will struggle for every last buck while seated. “Considering the sport they play, they should fight for it. “I think you also need to consider CeeDee Lamb’s refusal to transfer, as history indicates that Jerry Jones will come to a compromise if the Dallas Cowboys are having trouble.
But in order to be obstinate and hold out, he’s willing to jeopardize the first few games of a season to see what happens. “I don’t think it’s wise, I don’t think it’s smart, but nevertheless that is Jerry Jones’s MO.” On September 8, the Cowboys play the Cleveland Browns in the first game of the season. Their last preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers is on Saturday before that.
