Anthony Brown’s tenure with the Buffalo Bills has quickly come to an end. A week after being waived by the Las Vegas Raiders, the veteran quarterback was claimed by the Bills on August 20.

With Mitch Trubisky and Shane Buechele out due to injury, the team needed backup quarterbacks. As a result, Brown had less than a week to get ready for the team’s August 24 preseason finale loss to the Carolina Panthers, which ended in a 31-26 score. The Bills declared on August 25 that they have waived Brown in the first round of cuts, one day before Tuesday’s final roster deadline, despite his respectable performance against the Panthers.

ills Must Make Choices at Quarterback After signing with the Baltimore Ravens in 2022, Brown played in two games with one start, throwing for 302 yards on 22 of 49 completions. The next season, he was a member of the practice squad.

In the second half of the Panthers game on Saturday, Brown participated. He completed 11 of 12 passes for 105 yards and added one 13-yard rush.

However, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic pointed out that the performance was insufficient to remain on the practice squad. Buscaglia stated, “[Ben] DiNucci and Brown’s prospects of sticking were hurt by the preseason finale, which suggests that the team’s third quarterback for the season isn’t on the roster right now.

“Someone valuable who could replace an injured Trubisky as the primary backup should be available, especially with a big wave of cuts coming up next week.” DiNucci completed 11 of 15 throws for 76 yards and one touchdown in the preseason finale, putting up another strong showing.

The Bills hope to have Mitch Trubisky back for the season opener on August 17. On August 17, Trubisky was injured during the team’s 9-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The injury was first listed as “week-to-week” by Bills head coach Sean McDermott, but Nick Wojton of USA Today’s Bills Wire pointed out that he might still need to miss more work before he can play again.

According to Wojton, “Trubisky, who re-signed in Buffalo earlier this offseason to backup Josh Allen again, has a pretty sizeable brace on his knee.” “Trubisky was observing the practice when he was observed by cameras.

” Even prior to the injury, Trubisky struggled, which raised the possibility that the organization might search for a better backup to Josh Allen. Reporter Joe DiBiase of WGR 550 proposed that the Bills investigate former Pro Bowl quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

Ryan Tannehill would be a huge upgrade for the Bills as a backup quarterback if he is unable to play due to injury, according to DiBiase on X. If Trubisky had to play, this football squad would win three games.

If the Bills plan to sign Tannehill, competition may arise. The veteran quarterback was dubbed a “training camp winner” by Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay, who noted that increased interest in him was a result of backup quarterbacks’ lackluster performances. Kay stated, “Teams may be more willing to shell out some cash to land a steady hand like Tannehill due to these disappointing preseason showings.”

“His presence could give a squad more confidence in its ability to survive in the event that a starting quarterback is injured and strengthen a quarterback room before training camp ends.”
