In a historic move, NASCAR will hold its first race outside the United States in a neighboring country in 67 years.
For the first time in NASCAR’s recent history, the Cup Series will compete internationally in Mexico. The NASCAR Xfinity Series will have friendly competition in the city.
NASCAR will hold its first Cup race outside the United States on June 15, 2025. On June 14, 2025, the Xfinity Series race will take place. The races take place at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City. Prime Video airs the Cup Series, and the CW airs the Xfinity Series.
NASCAR is trying to grow worldwide. In the past, the Cup series held events in Canada and Japan. The Mexico City circuit, known for its Formula 1 races, now hosts a NASCAR race.
The length of the race course is 2.674 miles (4.303 km). NASCAR partners with OCESA, a major entertainment promoter in Mexico that runs the Formula 1 Mexico City Grand Prix. We brought the Craftsman truck series to Canada for a few years and we have the Xfinity series in Mexico.
It’s a historic moment for our sport as it’s our first attempt to win a World Cup Series title, and I think we can prepare for the future in new markets. So this is a big project for us. “We have a lot of questions,” said Ben Kennedy, NASCAR’s executive vice president, “I know the industry will have questions, but I’m excited to do this.”
The last time a Cup Series race was held outside the United States was in Toronto in 1958. According to The Athletic, the race in Mexico City will replace the race in Richmond. Since 1959, the 0.75-mile Richmond has held two races each year. Autodermo Hermanos Rodríguez Circuit in Mexico.
The Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez circuit in Mexico is the venue for the annual edition of the FI Mexico GP.
Originally built in 1959, it was restored in 2015 thanks to racing drivers Ricardo Rodríguez and Pedro Rodríguez. From 2005 to 2008, Hermanos Rodriguez drove four Xfinity Series races. The NASCAR Mexico Series is another regional competition run by NASCAR in Mexico.
Current Cup Series drivers such as Martin Truex Jr., Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch have all won races there. The Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez course will host the cup series. Instead of using the shorter circuit used by Formula E, the race plans to use the entire 2.7 mile circuit. The remaining lineups for the 2025 Cup Series will be announced at a later date.
