Bubba Wallace talks about how the sport of NASCAR hurt after the Darlington Pole
23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace spoke about his heartbreak after the Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season finale.
Despite taking an impressive pole position and leading by 37 points, Wallace’s finals dream was dashed in 16th place.
Wallace and Chris Buescher, battling for the final spot, were upset as Chase Briscoe celebrated the victory.
Wallace made the comments while speaking to the media, according to NASCAR.com
We weren’t very good; The last two-thirds of the race I said I was expecting 11 [Denny Hamlin] and 5 [Kyle Larson] to be there because 14 [Briscoe] was fast. “Who won? The goalposts have been moved again. They did better, they deserved it, so congratulations to the fourteen teams.
We’ll be back tomorrow, we’ll have to beat us harder. That’s sport. . “You go down, you go around, you go around. We have to take this week and stop being upset about not being in the playoffs and work hard for the next 10 [games]. ”
Michael Jordan, owner of 23XI Racing, spoke to the media after the race. He explained:
“But that’s what NASCAR is all about, and I love it. There’s no basketball behind it, but it’s easy to replace. It’s exciting. “Everybody wants something, but nothing comes for free,” he said of the advice he gave Wallace before the race. “If you want more money, then you have to work harder. He knows that.”
Meanwhile, Wallace’s 23XI racing teammate Tyler Reddick secured the 2024 NASCAR championship for the season. Reddick thought about this season: “Well, it’s just a testament to all the hard work from everyone at 23XI, here at the racetrack, week after week, back at Airspeed, to this.
“We’re in the fourth year of your goals, right? “It’s been really exciting to be able to do that for the last two years and get to where we want to go.”
