A few days later, the Cleveland Browns host the Dallas Cowboys in their season opener. There are plenty of storylines leading up to the game, but one of the most interesting is the matchup between defensive stars Myles Garrett of Cleveland and Micah Parsons of Dallas. Both players have been among the best quarterbacks in the NFL for years, but this is the first time they’ve faced each other. Entering his fourth season, Parsons clearly wants to win a championship for Dallas, but he also wants to do something he has yet to accomplish in his career: win NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors.
In a recent interview, last season’s winner Garrett Parsons said he would like to win the award again in 2024. “He’s a great athlete and a great supporter of the sport,” Garrett said. “I don’t want him to say anything else. He just says he’ll give 100%. So let’s fight and see what happens. It’s not me playing against Mika, but our team playing against each other. “Hopefully it will work eventually, but I don’t think it will happen on Sunday.”
Both players enter the game with a total of eight All-Pro selections and eight Pro Bowls, so both defenses will have plenty of star players in the game.
