Jameson Williams, a wide receiver for the Detroit Lions, may have injured his ankle following his team’s 26-20 victory over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1. Williams had five receptions for 121 receiving yards, a 13-yard carry, and one touchdown in the OT triumph. Early in the third quarter, he scored a spectacular 52-yard touchdown off a bomb from Jared Goff. But during practice on Wednesday, the wideout was labeled by the Lions as a limited participant.

According to a report from Myles Simmons of NBC’s Pro Football Talk, the receiver was the lone player listed as limited for the first practice of the week. Nevertheless, there is still cause for optimism for Lions supporters, as the organization has not disclosed if Jameson Williams’ ankle injury would prevent him from playing.

In addition to Williams, offensive tackle Panai Sewell also skipped Wednesday’s practice, citing precautionary reasons for his ankle injury. Marcus Davenport, a defensive lineman, missed practice as well, as did safeties Ifeatu Melifonwu (ankle) and Kerby Joseph (hamstring). Williams may have injured his ankle on a first play, but he still finished the game with a standout performance; however, after the initial rush of adrenaline subsided, the wideout’s ankle presumably started to hurt, prompting the wideout to cut back on his practice time.

The Lions will attempt to relieve some of the pressure on their third-year wide out as they get ready to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2 of the NFL season. After such an exciting debut, the team really should not want to take a chance on more injuries to their talented receiver.

was a significant game to be able to pass through and catch some of these. The nicest thing about it was that he did not even use his finest ball. Even while there is still a lot of work to be done, it also demonstrates the effort he has made, how much he is growing as a player, and how much he wants to develop. And he simply never stops doing these actions.

This is good news because in his first two seasons, Williams had to cope with an ACL injury and a gambling suspension. Hopefully, his injury is not too significant and he will be able to participate in Week 2.
