As he enjoyed the holidays, NASCAR driver Carson Hocevar turned to the online game iRacing. The Spire Motorsport driver made the decision to play the racing simulation game during the off-season. It wasn’t quite a peaceful experience for Hocevar, though, as he got into a verbal altercation with another player. A video of Hocevar racing on iRacing was posted to the Instagram account of B/R Racing, Bleacher Report’s motorsport handle. It appeared that the Spire Motorsport driver was competing in an older NASCAR Cup Series vehicle. As the two players rounded a corner, the other participant violently turned left into Hocevar’s vehicle in an effort to block him.
In the online voice chat, the NASCAR driver asked the other player, “What are you doing?” The player who changed into Hocevar responded, “I guess you do that a lot in real life too.” “Why you turned left on a straightaway is beyond me. “You’re an idiot,” Carson Hocevar remarked. “In any case, Spire will run out of money in a few years. The other player replied, “Seems to hit a lot of guys on accident the cup side too.” The NASCAR driver asked the other competitors to watch him on TV after the race to put an end to their arguments. “Have a great day, John!” he wrote in the game chat. Enjoy Sunday’s viewing of the upcoming decade. You’ll be out of the Cup Series in a couple of years anyways,” replied the player.
2023 was Carson Hocevar’s debut season in the NASCAR Cup Series as he raced part-time for Spire Motorsports and Legacy Motor Club. He got his debut full-time driver role in 2024 with Spire and finished the season 24th in the championship. He scored six top 10 finishes during the season and a Watkins Glen podium.
Ziegler Auto Group returns as sponsor for Carson Hocevar
Ziegler Auto Group, one of the largest automotive dealer groups in the US, will continue to sponsor Carson Hocevar’s #28 Chevrolet for the 2024 season. The group will be sponsoring the Spire Motorsport entry for eight races of the season, including the Daytona 500.
Speaking about the collaboration, Hocevar stated (via Spire-Motorsport.com): “After a great first season, I’m thrilled to extend our partnership with Zeigler Automotive Group. Since the beginning, they have been a fantastic support system for the No. 77 team and me. I’m excited to drive the Zeigler Chevrolet to Victory Lane and look forward to strengthening our relationship both on and off the track. In 2024, Hocevar wore the black and yellow Zeigler Auto Group livery; the 2025 livery saw a few minor design adjustments. For the 2024 Cup Series season, the 21-year-old received the Rookie of the Season honor.
