Brexton Busch won his maiden Golden Driller in the Junior Sprint division at the Tulsa Expo Center, marking the official arrival of the next generation of Busch race car drivers. The Chili Bowl Midget Nationals Micro Sprint and Outlaw Kart preliminary events take place over the entire week. One of the two kid-only divisions was won by Kyle Busch’s son, the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion. Busch, the younger, is nine years old. Busch won the 20-lap feature from the pole position after defeating more than 100 rivals during the week. “That was fantastic,” Brexton remarked. “I’m thrilled to be here and to have won. To prepare for this year, I’ve been watching every race from the previous year.
To get here, I won every race this week. Being the winner of this race is fantastic. Busch never saw lapped traffic because of the race’s several cautions. He acknowledged that he was fortunate to avoid lap traffic. That was a concern of mine. Winning was fantastic. I’m relieved that I didn’t give it away when I struck the berm on Lap 14. Al Scroggins, the crew chief, and Busch’s father are both excellent teachers. Busch has prepared for his future as a professional by spending time on both pavement and dirt. He has competed in pavement races like Legends and Bandoleros and dirt races like Outlaw Karts and Micro Sprints.
