Nascar joins the likes of Major League Baseball (MLB) and Formula One as the newest sports rights holder to launch a FAST channel. Broadcasters and sports organizations who want to draw viewers to their streaming ecosystems, engage them with content, and eventually upsell them to full subscriptions have found success using FAST channels.
Additionally, FAST can be used to generate income from customers who will never pay for content, open up new advertising revenue streams, and gather data that can guide future initiatives. In other Nascar news, Bell Media in Canada has agreed to a multi-year media rights agreement with the series. According to the arrangement, the network will host all three of the Nascar national series in the nation for the first time, extending its rights to the Nascar Cup Series and Nascar Xfinity Series to include programming for the Nascar Craftsman Truck Series.
Bell Media’s terrestrial and digital platforms, including CTV, TSN, USA Network, and TSN+, will broadcast the races along with related practice and qualifying sessions. Additional rights to the ARCA Menards Series and Nascar Canada Series events have also been acquired by Bell Media. The Nascar Canada Series will now be hosted and broadcast by REV TV. All live and/or first-airing events will be exclusively available in English, and it will produce all races in addition to highlights and other series-related content. The rights to the ARCA Menards Series and the whole schedule of Nascar international series races will also belong to REV TV.
