NFL Insider: Brian Schottenheimer Emerges as Top HC Candidate for Cowboys Amid Raiders Buzz
After Mike McCarthy left the Dallas Cowboys, offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer is allegedly a contender to become head coach. Schottenheimer, along with Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and Seattle Seahawks assistant head coach Leslie Frazier, who have already had interviews with the team, were mentioned by Dianna Russini of The Athletic as potential candidates for the Cowboys’ head coaching position during her Scoop City podcast on Tuesday (starting at the 33-second mark).
Although Schottenheimer does seem like a possibility for the Cowboys, ESPN’s Adam Schefter stated on the Pat McAfee Show (via On3.com’s Thomas Goldkamp) on Monday that Schottenheimer is the front-runner to take over as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. Schefter went on to say that Schottenheimer had not yet been interviewed by the Cowboys or contacted regarding the team’s head coach as of Monday.
