Finally Conquered Daytona: HMS Star Kyle Larson Gives an Honest Take on His Superspeedway Struggles

Kyle Larson, the 2021 Cup Series winner, placed third in the Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, which just ended. At a drafting track, he scored the first stage victory and his highest career finish ever. The Hendrick Motorsports driver recently posted on X his honest feelings after finishing the race at the superspeedway, where he had five DNFs in his six appearances. The California native had trouble finding speed for most of the race, but in the closing seconds of the superspeedway race, he had a chance to win. “Finally finished at ATL and was great to run up front,” Larson wrote after the race at the 1.5-mile Georgian circuit. Moving on to COTA

Kyle Larson began the next drafting track event at Atlanta outside the top 15 on the grid following a P20 result in the season-opening race at Daytona. The No. 5 Chevy driver fought his way through the ranks and won his first stage victory of the season, despite the Ford dominating the first half. Under caution, he eventually finished third in the race. The Hendrick Motorsports driver once discussed one area in which he might sharpen his stock-car racing skills as he continues to aim for a victory lane celebration this NASCAR season.

One time, Kyle Larson thought back on his “constant battle” to win another NASCAR championship. Kyle Larson, a 29-time Cup race winner, shared his opinions about the No. 5 Chevrolet team’s crash-prone behavior in NASCAR’s top division in January 2025. The 32-year-old had five DNFs in his 35 starts the previous season. Larson said that he has room for development as he gets ready for a second NASCAR championship triumph, even though he finished the 2024 season with the most victories (6). Larson stated in an interview with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio: “I’m not sure, but it seems like we haven’t taken home a title in a few years. Therefore, there is undoubtedly still space for improvement in both the team and the vehicle as well as in oneself. As for me, you look at the personal statistics at the end of the year, and I feel like I still crash about the most.

“That’s probably one area I’ve probably tried to get better even though it doesn’t seem like it,” Larson went on. “Yes, that’s what I’m looking at for the upcoming years: how can I stay true to myself without crashing as much? It’s a never-ending struggle with myself, but I believe I can overcome it and achieve greater achievement. Kyle Larson has gotten off to a solid start in the 2018 NASCAR campaign after a recent podium result at Atlanta, which gives out superspeedway-style racing, his weakness. He will now compete in the Circuit of the Americas road course event on March 2.
