Hosting the Detroit Lions at Soldier Field used to be the perfect opportunity for the Chicago Bears to snap a losing streak, but those days appear to be over.
The Lions were dominating the Bears midway through the third quarter on Sunday, December 22, leading 34-14 when Chicago entered the red zone with a chance to make it a two-score game. Facing a fourth-and-seven from the Detroit 12-yard line, Bears head coach Thomas Brown opted to kick a field goal to trim the deficit to 17 points.
The decision was met with a chorus of boos from the crowd, and they weren’t the only ones unhappy.
“Caleb Williams looks FURIOUS as Thomas Brown passes on going for it on 4th down and chooses the FG,” Bears Nation shared on X. “Makes absolutely no sense given the state of the season and the score.”
