George H. McCaskey spoke to reporters Wednesday about the hiring of the Bears’ new head coach.
Chicago Bears president George H. McCaskey was tight-lipped Wednesday about his thoughts on the NFL’s television schedule.
At a press conference shortly after the Bears hired Ben Johnson as their head coach, McCaskey was asked to give his thoughts on Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Tom Brady, who will be officiating a divisional game between the Detroit Lions and Washington Chiefs on Saturday. The segment will air on Fox Sports. Kevin Burkhart will be the play-by-play announcer.

Bears boss to take on ESPN’s Joe Buck now
The segment will air on Fox Sports, with Kevin Burkhart as the anchor. Brady never brought up Johnson’s name on the show, as the former Lions offensive coordinator competed for the Raiders job.
But instead of responding to Brady’s intrusion, McCaskey pointed to ESPN’s play-by-play announcer.
“I don’t care who they have. When Joe Buck is on, I turn it down,” McCaskey said.
Buck is ESPN’s first broadcaster since the move from Fox Sports to ESPN in 2022. He called one of the Bears’ games in 2024, when they were beaten 30-12 by the Minnesota Vikings in Week 15 at U.S. Bank Stadium.
The game snapped the Bears’ losing streak to eight straight games. At least McCaskey was spared from having to listen to the announcement?
