Sione Vaki, a rookie rushing back for the Detroit Lions, is a dual-threat player who can play both inside the backfield and on karaoke night.

Teams putting their rookies through some kind of talent show is a long-standing custom during the NFL preseason. Like Caleb Williams, a rookie for the Chicago Bears, most players end up getting jeered by their teammates for bad performances, but some guys show off a talent that their teammates are probably unaware of.

During the team’s rookie showcase, Vaki—a 2024 draft selection selected by Detroit in the fourth round—showcased his skills and wowed Lions coach Dan Campbell.

“It was a meh performance. However, the voice? It was very amazing,” Campbell remarked on Wednesday. “It really is.”

Vaki shared a sample of his singing voice with the media a few hours following Campbell’s remarks.

Really quite good.

Vaki, a two-way star at Utah for two seasons, hopes to provide value as a backup running back behind Craig Reynolds, David Montgomery, and Jahmyr Gibbs as well as on special teams.
