Dan Campbell, the experienced head coach of the Detroit Lions, was forced to sell his house after NFL fans became unhappy with how some Lions supporters treated him. Recently, it was reported that Campbell was asking $4.5 million for his Bloomfield home.
The Lions coach and his family reportedly left their 7,800-square-foot residence due to security concerns, and they have already relocated to a new home.
Some Lions fans allegedly took advantage of the public leak of Campbell’s home address over the past year, harassing and teasing him and his family whenever the team lost.
This situation has left many in the NFL disappointed, particularly since Campbell led the Lions to an impressive record the previous season. With a 12-5 record, Detroit qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
In addition, the Lions defeated the Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card round, marking their first postseason victory in 32 years. They advanced all the way to the NFC Championship Game but were ultimately defeated by the San Francisco 49ers.
“Saw that Lions HC Dan Campbell is selling his house due to lack of privacy & harassment,” remarked one critic. “You need mental health assistance if you think it’s okay to threaten, send toxic DMs, or show up at the homes of public figures.
You owe them nothing. Leave them alone, win or lose.” Another frustrated NFL fan added, “It’s crazy how quickly fans went from hoping for a playoff berth to getting angry over anything short of perfection. Dan Campbell’s house situation is genuinely insane. People need to get a grip.”
A social media post continued, “Sick Detroit fans: Campbell’s family of four had been the target of ‘doxxing,’ or the public release of private information.
It’s beneath us as Lions fans to go to Dan Campbell’s house and harass his family because we lost on Sunday. Everyone needs to get a grip!” echoed another Detroit fan.
A fifth critic commented, “The fact that Dan Campbell had to sell his house and MOVE because people take sports too seriously is pure insanity!”
Despite the challenges his family has faced, Dan Campbell refused to speak ill of the Detroit fans. Instead, the Lions coach took the high road, sending a gracious message when asked about selling his home due to the harassment they experienced.
“I love our fans. The fans are incredible. There’s no other place I’d want to be, no other team I’d want to coach,” Campbell said, as reported by Brad Galli. The Campbells should now feel more secure and at ease in their new home.
