Kelly Stafford, wife of former Detroit Lions and current Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, isn’t just a supportive spouse on the sidelines—she’s also the host of her own podcast.
In 2021, Kelly launched “The Morning After with Kelly Stafford & Hank,” co-hosted with Hank Winchester. In a September episode, Kelly revealed an unexpected skill her husband possesses when it comes to football.
Kelly Stafford Shares Matthew Stafford’s Unique Talent for Diagnosing Injuries
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love sprained his MCL during the team’s season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil on September 6. On her podcast, Kelly explained that Matthew immediately knew the nature of Love’s injury, even before any official report.
“Matthew has an incredible ability to diagnose injuries,” Kelly shared during the September 12 episode. “When did Jordan Love get hurt? I told Matthew about it because he hadn’t seen the game, and I said it looked really painful, especially with his knee. Matthew guessed it was an MCL injury—and he was right. He just has this instinct.”
Later in the episode, Kelly also opened up about her personal journey with therapy. She discussed working with her therapist to overcome her habit of being a “people pleaser,” something she had struggled with earlier in life.
“I’ve always had difficulty setting boundaries, and I tend to please others,” Kelly admitted. “Recently, I sat down with my therapist to talk about this because certain situations brought it to light. My therapist helped me learn how to set boundaries in a way that makes me feel comfortable, without worrying about upsetting others.”
Kelly Stafford’s Message: ‘Don’t Lose Yourself’
In an August 25 interview with E! News, Kelly reflected on her podcast and how it’s often misunderstood.
“A lot of people assume the podcast is all about football, but that’s not the case,” she explained. “We might touch on football occasionally, especially during the season since it’s such a big part of my life, but the show is more about creating a supportive community.”
Kelly emphasized how open and honest she is on the podcast. “I’m very vulnerable because I feel safe in this community, and that’s what I love about it,” she said.
In the same interview, Kelly offered advice for others, drawn from her own experiences. “I wish someone had told me not to lose myself in all of this,” she said. “Don’t try to become the person everyone expects you to be. That’s what I did, and I lost sight of who I really was—both in terms of personality and appearance.”
This fall, Kelly is taking her podcast on the road, with a tour that kicked off in Detroit on September 7 and will continue through December
