Detroit Lions fans have finally gotten a response from Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby on whether he’s headed to Detroit.
Crosby, a fan favorite among Lions supporters, has built a strong reputation as a three-time Pro Bowler and is well-liked for his Michigan roots. Born in Lapeer and having played football in Michigan, he’s often the subject of trade rumors. On the October 8 episode of “The Rush with Maxx Crosby,” he shared that even his family has been questioning whether he’s moving to Detroit or Philadelphia.
Amidst the ongoing trade rumors, Crosby finally addressed Lions fans directly about the possibility of joining the team.
In a 90-second clip posted by Vegas Sports Today on October 6, Crosby crushed any hopes of a move to Detroit.
“I’ve got to listen to these clowns online and on the Pat McAfee Show saying ‘something’s going on,’ acting like they’re speaking for me, saying I should be on the sideline when I’m dealing with a high ankle sprain,” Crosby said. “These clowns, they’re sitting on a couch telling me what I should be doing.”
The former Eastern Michigan player continued, “But the reality is, I’m making progress, trying to get healthy so I can return to the field. Everyone knows my intentions, but they want to speak for me. (Expletive) — talk to me directly, and then we can have a conversation. Don’t speak for me when you don’t know what’s going on.”
I’m not crying. You are.
Maxx Crosby Calls Out ‘Embarrassing’ Online Rumors
Crosby didn’t stop there, also criticizing those fueling trade talk by stating that his Raiders teammates know he’d “take a bullet for them.”
“You’ve got these clowns online and talking … it’s embarrassing. Don’t speak for me,” Crosby said. “I’ll speak for my guys, and that’s all that matters. It irritates me because I can handle criticism, but don’t talk about me when you don’t know the truth. You’re talking for me or about the organization without knowing anything.”
He concluded by saying, “Come on, bro, you know where I want to be. You think I want to be anywhere else? I’ve got this (expletive) tattooed on my body. I don’t want to go anywhere. At the end of the day, it’s just funny how people talk without knowing.”
Crosby also shared that his family had been taken in by the rumors. On his show, he said, “I’ve seen so much. I’ve had family members ask, ‘Are you going to Detroit? Philly?’ Then people are making up quotes, saying Maxx and Davante are a package deal. Some accounts are getting 20,000 likes, and I’m like, this is (expletive) crazy.”
In 2022, Crosby signed a four-year, $94 million contract with the Raiders, with an average annual salary of $23.5 million.
