Maxx Crosby Puts an End to Detroit Lions Trade Speculation
Detroit Lions fans have long wondered if Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby would ever join their team. As a three-time Pro Bowler with Michigan roots—he grew up in Lapeer and played college football at Eastern Michigan—Crosby has become a fan favorite and a frequent topic of trade rumors.
Speculation about his potential move to Detroit or Philadelphia has been so rampant that Crosby himself addressed it on the October 8 episode of “The Rush with Maxx Crosby,” sharing that even his family has begun asking if he’s heading to one of those cities.
In a clip posted on October 6 by Vegas Sports Today, Crosby finally gave Lions fans a definitive answer, albeit one that dashed their hopes.
Maxx Crosby Disappoints Lions Fans in 90-Second Video
Crosby made his position clear in the 90-second clip, expressing frustration over the rumors. “I’ve got to hear from these clowns talking online, and on the Pat McAfee Show, saying ‘something’s going on,’ speaking for me like I should be on the sideline because of my high ankle sprain,” Crosby said. “These clowns, they’re sitting on a couch telling me what I should be doing.”
The defensive end added, “I’m working hard to recover and get back on the field. Everyone knows where I stand, but some people think they can speak for me. (Expletive) If you want to know what’s happening, talk to me directly. Don’t talk about me when you don’t know the facts.”
For Lions fans hoping for a homecoming, Crosby’s words were a hard reality.
Crosby Blasts Rumor-Mongers, Calls Them ‘Embarrassing’
Not stopping there, Crosby emphasized his commitment to his Raiders teammates, saying he’d “take a bullet for them.”
“It’s embarrassing when people talk online like they know what’s going on,” he said. “I’m here for my guys, and that’s all that matters. I’ve dealt with criticism before, but don’t speak for me when you don’t know the situation. You’re making assumptions about me and the organization.”
Crosby concluded by making his loyalty clear. “Come on, man. Do you really think I want to be anywhere else? I’ve got this (expletive) tatted on my body. I don’t want to go anywhere. People have a lot to say when they don’t know the truth.”
Even Crosby’s own family had been taken in by the rumors, as he revealed on his show. “I’ve seen so many stories. Family members are asking me, ‘Are you going to Detroit? Philly?’ And then people are quoting me saying, ‘Maxx and Davante Adams are a package deal.’ Some of these posts get 20,000 likes, and I’m just like, this is (expletive) insane.”
Crosby’s commitment to the Raiders seems ironclad, especially after signing a four-year, $94 million contract in 2022, with an average annual salary of $23.5 million.
