The Detroit Lions, who emerged victorious in their Thanksgiving clash against the Chicago Bears, suffered a slew of defensive injuries during the game. In response, the Lions have been actively bolstering their roster with free agents, waiver pickups, and practice squad acquisitions.
Just days ago, Detroit signed defensive tackle Myles Adams from the Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad, depriving Seattle of a reliable backup at a critical position. Now, they’re adding another former Seahawk to their ranks. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Lions are signing strong safety Jamal Adams to their practice squad.
Adams, a former first-round draft pick by the New York Jets, was traded to the Seahawks in 2020 in a deal that, in hindsight, rivaled Seattle’s controversial Jimmy Graham and Percy Harvin trades.
The Seahawks gave up two first-round picks for Adams and later signed him to a lucrative long-term deal, which became a financial albatross after his initial strong season. Seattle ultimately released Adams to save cap space, swallowing a hefty dead money penalty that will clear off their books next year.
After his release, Adams signed with the Tennessee Titans, who had joint preseason practices with Seattle. During those sessions, Adams made waves with his former teammates but saw limited action with the Titans. He appeared in only three games, starting just one, before being granted his release upon request.
