The Detroit Lions bounced back in style against the Chicago Bears, securing a commanding 34-17 victory at Soldier Field.
This win snapped a brief setback following their loss to the Buffalo Bills. Quarterback Jared Goff delivered three touchdown passes, while Jahmyr Gibbs shined with a strong performance to power Detroit’s offense.
With only two games remaining, the Lions are in a prime position to secure the No. 1 seed in the NFC, which includes a coveted first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
To claim the top spot, Detroit must defeat the San Francisco 49ers on Monday and hope the Minnesota Vikings fall to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Should both the Vikings and Lions emerge victorious, the NFC North division title and the No. 1 seed will hinge on their Week 18 clash at Ford Field.
“Of course, it comes down to the Lions wanting the number one seed, and it’s a team from their own division who they could play in Week 18 that’s not going away,” said co-host Christian Booher. “So yeah, it’s a grind, and it’s not getting any easier. While the one seed would help them tremendously, it’s also not a free ticket to the Super Bowl because you could wind up seeing, I don’t know, these Vikings again or the Eagles with a Super Bowl berth on the line in the playoffs.”

Detroit’s path to the top seed remains in its hands. A victory over the 49ers would keep their hopes alive, while a Minnesota loss would make things simpler. Even so, the Week 18 game against the Vikings at Ford Field looms large.
“Of course, it comes down to the Lions wanting the number one seed, and it’s a team from their own division who they could play in Week 18 that’s not going away,” Booher reiterated.
Detroit’s Destiny is in Their Hands
The Lions control their fate and are determined to capitalize on the opportunity for home-field advantage. Even if they meet Minnesota again in the playoffs, having the comfort of Ford Field could make all the difference.
“The one seed and home-field advantage would give you the best situation possible, and that’s why the Lions are fighting for it right now,” Booher explained. “Moving forward, you’ve got to have this one against the 49ers, you’d love some help from the Packers, no less. But in my opinion, it’s gonna come down to Week 18. It’s going to be a showdown. The Lions love the adversity and the challenge, so here you go.”
