The Detroit Lions clinched the number one seed in the NFC on Sunday Night Football with a commanding 31-9 victory over the Minnesota Vikings at Ford Field.
Key to the win was a standout defensive effort, highlighted by cornerback Amik Robertson, who limited star Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson to just three catches for 54 yards.
The Lions’ defense also overwhelmed quarterback Sam Darnold, holding him to 18 completions on 41 attempts for 166 yards and no touchdowns, as they pulled away in the second half.
After the game, Robertson noted a difference in Jefferson’s demeanor compared to their first meeting earlier in the season, when the Lions claimed a win in Minnesota. Robertson recalled that Jefferson had told him “good game” after scoring on him in Week 7.
“This time, he just walked off the field,” Robertson said, expressing frustration over Jefferson’s lack of sportsmanship, as reported by Lions insider Nolan Bianchi.
Ahead of the matchup, Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and head coach Dan Campbell tasked Robertson with the responsibility of shadowing Jefferson.
Robertson embraced the challenge and delivered under the brightest lights of the 2024-2025 NFL season, earning praise for his performance. He also had a message for fans after shutting down one of the league’s premier receivers.
“You can’t bury what comes from the dirt,” Robertson said.
