The NFL regular season concluded with a “Sunday Night Football” showdown between the Detroit Lions and the Minnesota Vikings.
In Week 18, the Lions dominated the Vikings with a 31-9 victory, finishing the season at 15-2, while Minnesota dropped to 14-3.
The game, a key matchup between NFC rivals, aired on NBC Sports. After the broadcast, NBC’s public relations team released the official Week 18 viewership numbers.
The Lions-Vikings game drew an average of 28.5 million viewers, making it NBC’s most-watched “Sunday Night Football” broadcast since 2012.
Detroit delivered a stellar performance, especially on offense.
Quarterback Jared Goff led the way with one touchdown and 231 passing yards, completing 27 of 33 attempts.
However, the standout star was running back Jahmyr Gibbs, who scored three rushing touchdowns, ran for 139 yards, and added one receiving touchdown with 31 yards on five catches.
With the win, the Lions secured the No. 1 seed in the NFC, earning a first-round bye in the playoffs. The Vikings, meanwhile, clinched the No. 5 seed in the NFC postseason standings.
While Detroit rests during the Wild Card round, Minnesota will return to action on Jan. 13, facing the Los Angeles Rams.
