The Lions are not the first team in NFL history to be considered the best and fall short in the playoffs.
This is not the first time Lions fans have hoped for more, only to face disappointment when the season ended.
When we take these two truths to heart, we, the best and most loyal fans in all professional sports, can pause, catch our breath, and reflect on the incredible season we all witnessed.
A season that will serve as the benchmark for all future seasons.
A season that established a new standard for the organization and its fans.
The Lions swept what many believe to be the toughest division in the NFL.
The Lions achieved, for the first time in their storied history, a 15-win season and the #1 seed in the NFC.
For the first time in NFL history, one team saw two receivers and two running backs each surpass 1,000 yards.
Jared Goff delivered a performance unmatched by any Lions quarterback. His numbers, his streaks—achievements that align with the all-time greats.
All of this was achieved despite losing many defensive starters and relying heavily on second- and third-string players. The immense adversity this team overcame to produce such a remarkable season is nothing short of inspiring. I am so proud of this team!
Just imagine the team we’ll have next year! Yes, we may lose our coordinators, but compensatory draft picks await, and I have complete faith in Brad Holmes to capitalize on them. I also trust him to find the right coaches to fill the inevitable vacancies.
Will we see a different team in 2025? Absolutely! But I believe we’ll see an even better one.
The sting of this season’s end—the disappointment of not hosting the NFC Championship, of not making it to the Super Bowl despite high expectations—will fade. In its place, a new sense of excitement will arise.
As mentioned before, we are the best fans in all of professional sports!
And so, it feels only fitting to close this season by saying what we’ve grown so accustomed to saying—but this time, with renewed optimism:
