Maxx Crosby Shares Mysterious Social Media Post Revives Detroit Lions Trade Hopes

Detroit Lions fans have long admired Michigan native Maxx Crosby. The Las Vegas Raiders defensive end hails from Lapeer and played college football at Eastern Michigan before making his way to the NFL.

While Lions fans have dreamed of Crosby returning to Michigan, that wish has yet to come true. However, a recent cryptic social media post from Crosby has sparked speculation among Lions supporters, fueling hopes that a trade to Detroit might be on the horizon.

Maxx Crosby Shares Mysterious Social Media Post

The Las Vegas Raiders endured another challenging season, adding to the frustrations of recent years. Despite this, the franchise has a fresh start ahead with Pete Carroll stepping in as the new head coach, which could signal better days for the team.

On January 24, Crosby posted a cryptic message on X, saying, “Undisputed. They Will Wish They Treated You Better When Times Were Tough. The Fake Always Expose Themselves. Limitless.”

The post quickly caught the attention of Lions fans, many of whom flocked to X to plead for his return to Michigan. One fan commented, “Come home bro,” while another simply wrote, “Lion.”

Though Crosby hasn’t explicitly hinted at a trade, Lions fans aren’t the only ones speculating. Crosby has also been linked to the Green Bay Packers in offseason trade rumors.

NFL analyst Tyler Brooke of The 33rd Team proposed a potential trade scenario in which the Raiders would send Crosby to the Packers in exchange for significant draft capital, including a second- and third-round pick.

“It would take significant resources to convince the Raiders to give up their franchise player in his prime,” Brooke noted in a January 21 feature. “However, if Crosby wants to play for a contender before the end of his career, then the Packers would be the perfect landing spot.”

Maxx Crosby Talks Up Lions, Pistons, and Red Wings

Crosby has not been shy about his Michigan roots. Appearing on Good Morning Football on January 17, he spoke fondly of the Lions’ success while admitting he has mixed feelings watching from afar.

“My mom was born, raised in Detroit, my aunts and uncles. I grew up in Michigan right down the street. It’s incredible to see for the city because it’s been some long years,” Crosby said.

He continued, “The Lions haven’t won in a long time and now you see the Pistons winning, the Red Wings are winning, and I have to watch from a distance. Even the Tigers, the Tigers are back winning. I’m like, ‘Damn, now I’m in Vegas.’ My whole childhood, I was in a tough place.”

Trade Unlikely Despite Speculation

Although Crosby’s comments and social media post have excited fans, there’s been no substantial indication that he’s on the trading block. With the Raiders bringing in a new head coach, a trade seems even less likely.

Crosby is also under contract with the Raiders, having signed a four-year, $94 million extension in 2022, which includes an average annual salary of $23.5 million. The Raiders drafted him in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, and he has been a cornerstone of their defense ever since.

In 2024, Crosby recorded 45 tackles, 7.5 sacks, five passes defended in 12 games, and earned his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl selection.

For now, it seems Crosby will remain in Las Vegas, but his deep ties to Michigan and admiration for the Lions continue to make him a fan favorite in Detroit.
