Detroit Lions left tackle Taylor Decker has officially been named to his first Pro Bowl.
The Lions announced on Monday that Decker will step in for his teammate, Penei Sewell, at the event.
The exact nature of Sewell’s injury remains unclear, as the Lions’ right tackle played every snap during the team’s divisional round loss to the Washington Commanders and was not listed on the injury report prior to the game.
Decker, who was a first-round draft pick in 2016, entered the season as the third alternate at the tackle position.
This season, Decker started 14 of the Lions’ 17 regular-season games, continuing to solidify his role as a key part of Detroit’s offensive line.
In addition to Decker, several other Lions players are expected to participate in the Pro Bowl Games, which begin Thursday and run through the weekend. These include running back Jahmyr Gibbs, quarterback Jared Goff, wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, center Frank Ragnow, safety Brian Branch, and punter Jack Fox.
