The Kansas City Chiefs are still basking in their Monday night victory against the New Orleans Saints on October 7, but tight end Travis Kelce may owe an apology to Taylor Swift. According to the Daily Mail, Kelce made a misstep that might upset some women in similar situations.
Report: Travis Kelce Was ‘Flustered’ on His Way to Meet Taylor Swift
The Daily Mail reports that Swift and her father, Scott, who was also at the game, boarded a Gulfstream jet at a Kansas City-area airport at 6:05 p.m. However, they had to wait for 55 minutes because Kelce, driving his Hummer, was still on his way.
“The flustered NFL star then attempted to drive the large EV onto the tarmac, only to discover the gate was locked,” the report stated. “Eventually, a member of Swift’s armed security team was able to escort him to the $61 million plane, and a red-faced Kelce dashed up the stairs.” It’s unclear why they arrived separately, as Kelce had reportedly spent the day with Swift at his Kansas City mansion.
The report also notes that their flight took off just as Kelce’s brother, Jason, arrived at the same airport to head back to Philadelphia.
Taylor Swift Has Opened Travis Kelce to New Experiences
After the Monday night game, Travis and Jason discussed the win and New Orleans cuisine on their “New Heights” podcast. Jason asked Travis if he enjoyed the New Orleans food he had before the game. Travis admitted that he’s not a fan of the city’s food, and Jason teased him for missing out.
Travis humorously called jambalaya “soupy rice,” which surprised Jason. However, he praised Swift for encouraging Travis to try new things. Travis, who admits to being a picky eater, said he’s working on it.
Jason kicked off the podcast with a joke, saying, “As we all know, Travis performed well because someone special was in the stadium. Someone who means a lot to him, and he always tries to impress when they’re there. And that someone is me.”
Jason, of course, was joking and referencing Swift’s presence in the crowd. He also teased Travis about turning 35, calling it a “big birthday.” Jason tried to make it the birthday episode, but Travis resisted, saying, “Don’t make my birthday part of this episode; it has nothing to do with it.”
Travis’ birthday was on October 5. When asked by the Daily Mail what she got him for his birthday, Donna Kelce said, “I can’t say, I’m giving it to him after Monday’s game,” according to an October 9 report.
After the Chiefs’ bye week, they are set to face the San Francisco 49ers on October 20 in California.
