Kayla Nicole, ex-girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, recently opened up about her life post-Kelce in an interview on the October 10 episode of the Unapologetically Angel podcast, hosted by WNBA star Angel Reese.
Addressing a popular question, Nicole responded to the rumor that Kelce was “cheap,” saying, “That was definitely a rumor that circulated.”
Kelce is now dating pop star Taylor Swift.

During the interview, Reese and Nicole discussed the rumor that Nicole had to split bills and pay 50/50 on dates with Kelce. Nicole dismissed this as false, saying, “Do I look like I would go 50-50 on bills? It was ridiculous. But, he addressed that too. I don’t even know how it became a thing. It wasn’t an issue in our relationship, but the internet ran with it.”
Later in the conversation, Nicole shared her thoughts on public relationships, expressing a desire for privacy moving forward. “People can’t pick at what they don’t know about. I want to protect my relationships from now on,” she said, referencing the attention surrounding Kelce’s new relationship with Swift.
Reese also asked Nicole if she is still friends with the Kansas City Chiefs’ wives and girlfriends, including Brittany Mahomes, wife of quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Nicole initially laughed and responded, “Yes. Yes, I was.”
When pressed further, Nicole explained that while they were once close during her relationship with Kelce, things have changed. “We were cool, [but] we’re not as close as we once were. It was hard to lose that connection because at the time, those friendships felt like family.”
In the interview, Nicole also noted that there’s no longer room for communication between her and Kelce due to the spotlight on his relationship with Swift. “We’ve seen each other in public spaces,” Nicole said, joking that she might just give him a head nod when they cross paths.
“I think we both understand the nature of his new situation, and there’s no space for us to interact without it being blown out of proportion. So, we just move on.”
‘I Still Love My KC People’
In an October 2023 interview with People Magazine, Nicole spoke about her time with Kelce and how things unfolded after their breakup. At the time, she said she and Brittany Mahomes remained friendly and had open conversations. “She knows I love her,” Nicole added.
Reflecting on her time in Kansas City, Nicole shared, “I still love my KC people and my KC community. But for me, I have to move forward, and I hope everyone respects that. Part of that respect is not involving me in things that no longer concern me.”
