The Kansas City Chiefs have been exploring ways to bolster their roster throughout the season.
Despite an impressive 12-1 record, the Chiefs are not yet at full strength. Injuries have been a persistent issue, particularly in the wide receiver corps. In response, the team has brought in players like DeAndre Hopkins to help alleviate the burden.
Could another acquisition be on the horizon?
Three-time Pro Bowler Odell Beckham Jr., who spent the 2024 season with the Miami Dolphins, has had a disappointing year. Plagued by injuries, Beckham has appeared in just nine games, recording nine catches for 55 yards.
On Friday, Beckham and the Dolphins “mutually agreed” to part ways, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
“The Dolphins and three-time Pro Bowl WR Odell Beckham Jr. have mutually agreed to part ways, per sources,” Pelissero reported. “Beckham is hoping for more opportunities elsewhere, and the team is granting his release. He’ll be on waivers until Monday.”
Beckham will soon be available for teams to claim, and Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio has already floated the Chiefs as a potential landing spot.
“If he clears waivers, he becomes a free agent,” Florio explained. “It’s unclear whether he’d command anything more than the prorated veteran minimum of $1.21 million. Playoff teams that could use help at the position include the [Pittsburgh Steelers] and Chiefs.”
While Beckham may no longer be the dominant force he once was, bringing in a veteran receiver with playoff experience and a Super Bowl ring could prove beneficial as Kansas City gears up for the postseason.
