Maxx Crosby has slammed Pat McAfee and some of the “clowns” who appear as guests on his show, following recent on-air criticism directed at the Las Vegas Raiders star.

While Crosby didn’t name anyone specifically apart from McAfee, online speculation suggests that McAfee contributor Michael Lombardi may have triggered Crosby’s comments.

During last Thursday’s episode of McAfee’s show, Lombardi alleged that Crosby was faking an injury to sit out amid tensions involving Davante Adams and the team.

“And then I’ve got to listen to these clowns online and on the Pat McAfee show saying, ‘Something’s going on,’ and they’re speaking for me, saying I should be on the sideline while I’m dealing with a high-ankle sprain,” Crosby stated.

“These clowns are sitting on the couch talking about what I should be doing. The reality is, I’m putting in work, trying to heal and get back on the field. Everyone knows my intentions, but they try to speak for me. If you talk to me and understand what’s going on, we can have a conversation.”

He added, “But don’t speak on my behalf if you don’t know what’s really happening. … You’ve got these clowns online, talking, getting their one day a week or their chance to go on the Pat McAfee show to say what we should be doing.”

Crosby also criticized Lombardi’s background, saying, “You were a general manager for one year. It’s embarrassing. Don’t speak for me. I’ll speak for my team, and that’s all that matters to me.”

Lombardi served as the Cleveland Browns’ general manager for one season, during the 2013-14 NFL campaign.
