If you’re planning on going to Michigan International Speedway (MIS) in Brooklyn, Michigan when NASCAR comes to town, you’ve probably heard about the not-so-good forecast. Rain is likely for most of the weekend, which may lead to the postponement/cancellation of various events. I will break down the information here.
The NASCAR Xfinity Series is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, with the main event, the Cup Series on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Unsettled weather will be a common theme throughout the week with a low pressure system moving right across the state.
By Saturday morning most areas were dry. However, rain is expected to increase in the late morning and evening. Although there will be no continuous rain throughout the day, several showers and thunderstorms are expected in the area, followed by periods of dry weather. It rains, sometimes heavily.
There is no bad weather, but if there is a rumble of thunder, you should go inside and stay away from the bases. A similar forecast is expected Sunday as a low pressure system moves east out of Michigan. Scattered showers and thunderstorms in the early afternoon and late afternoon. There may be less cover on Saturday, but there will be several episodes of rain for MIS.
If a meeting has to be postponed to Monday, the weather will improve. Mostly dry and sunny weather. Highs will be in the mid 70s each day.
