The National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA®) announced today that it is continuing its sponsorship of Joey Gase for the upcoming NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, August 24. Joey Gase will be driving the No. 44 car featuring Sparky® the Fire Dog for NY Racing in the Coke Zero 400.
The collaboration between NFPA and Joey Gase is part of an ongoing effort to promote Fire Prevention Week™, October 6-12, and this year‘s theme, “Smoke alarms: Make them work for you.™, which focuses on the importance of working smoke alarms. In addition to sponsoring a race in Iowa this past June, NFPA will sponsor Gase in upcoming NASCAR Xfinity Series races in Watkins Glen, NY, Talladega, AL, and Charlotte, NC. The Coke Zero Sugar 400 represents yet another opportunity to reach even more fans with potentially life-saving fire safety information and resources.
“We are thrilled to continue working with Joey Gase and team up to drive home the importance of fire safety, with a focus on properly installing, testing, and maintaining smoke alarms,” said Lorraine Carli, vice president of Outreach and Advocacy at NFPA. “Daytona is one of the most iconic tracks in NASCAR. This race gives us a unique platform to reach a large and diverse audience with these basic but critical fire safety messages.”
Joey Gase, a passionate advocate for using his racing platform to champion important public service messages, has been proactively working to help NFPA amplify Fire Prevention Week. The No. 44 car, which will prominently display Sparky the Fire Dog®, the official NFPA mascot, also features the Fire Prevention Week website (fpw.org) and this year‘s campaign theme.
“I‘m proud to have NFPA on board for this Saturday‘s race in Daytona,” said Gase. “Fire continues to be a real risk for all of us, particularly in our homes, and I‘m honored to help raise awareness about this public safety issue. NASCAR has a great fanbase, and I‘m excited to continue sharing NFPA‘s potentially life-saving messages with everyone.”
Fans can catch the Coke Zero Sugar 400 on Saturday, August 24, at 7:30 pm EST, on NBC, Motor Racing Network, or SirusXM.
