Dale Earnhardt Jr. has shared his thoughts on the ongoing tension between 23XI Racing and NASCAR over the new charter agreement, which both 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports have declined to sign.
During a recent episode of his podcast, The Dale Jr. Download, the NASCAR Hall of Famer offered his perspective on the situation, including the possibility of legal action.
The dispute centers around 23XI Racing, co-owned by Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan, refusing to agree to the terms of the new charter deal. Front Row Motorsports has taken a similar stance, making them outliers as the rest of the NASCAR Cup Series teams have already signed. This standoff has raised speculation about potential legal consequences and the future of these teams in the sport.
Earnhardt Jr. remarked, “It’s definitely interesting times. I don’t see this turning into a huge spectacle or leading to a legal battle, not really.”
He added, “Maybe 23XI Racing will pursue legal action, but I don’t think anyone’s going to be deeply invested in it. The public isn’t likely to follow a court case that closely.”
He continued, “If it does go to court, will people really keep up with it? Personally, I’d just wait to see the outcome. The news cycle moves so fast nowadays, with so much happening all the time, that a week later, people will have moved on. I think it’ll be the same with this.”
“Once it gets tangled up in legal proceedings, I think everyone will lose interest. There will be more important things happening in the sport that will take priority. I just don’t see everything coming to a halt because of this,” Earnhardt Jr. concluded.
As 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports continue to stand their ground, questions remain about their future in NASCAR. If the situation escalates, it could result in 23XI Racing, a key player in recent seasons, leaving the sport altogether.
The outcome of this standoff is something NASCAR fans will be keeping a close eye on.
