Corey LaJoie and Justin Haley Swap NASCAR Teams
Corey LaJoie currently drives for Spire Motorsports, while Justin Haley is behind the wheel for Rick Ware Racing (RWR). Both drivers compete full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series.
In July, it was announced that LaJoie would not return to Spire for the 2025 season.
Starting with next week’s race at Kansas Speedway, the two drivers will swap teams. LaJoie will join RWR, and Haley will take over at Spire.
LaJoie’s future with RWR beyond the 2024 season has not yet been confirmed.
A lawsuit was recently filed against Rick Ware Racing by a company that had paid for Haley to drive for RWR under a two-year deal. Haley’s departure from the team before the contract ended sparked the legal action. However, the lawsuit was dropped after LaJoie’s signing was announced.
Rick Ware Racing Comments “Justin Haley is a very talented driver who has done a lot to help elevate RWR,” said Robby Benton, president of RWR.
“Justin approached us during the Olympic break with a longer-term opportunity that would benefit his career. We understood his desires, as he committed to RWR early last year and has played a key role in our growth as an organization.”
“We didn’t want to hinder his development or ours. In our discussions with Justin following the break, we mutually agreed to release him from his contract with RWR.”
“To maintain the momentum we’ve built this year, Corey LaJoie joining RWR gives us the chance to continue progressing. These next seven races offer a unique opportunity to collaborate and see what we might accomplish together in the future.”
“Corey is determined to win in the NASCAR Cup Series, and so are we. Our goals align in that pursuit.”

Rodney Childers will also make the move to Spire Motorsports.
Spire Motorsports Comments “Corey LaJoie has been a cornerstone of Spire Motorsports, and we’re extremely grateful for all the time, effort, and energy he’s put into our program. RWR is getting a workhorse in Corey. He’s fully committed to his craft, and his determination elevates everyone around him,” said Jeff Dickerson, co-owner of Spire Motorsports.
“We’ve known Justin Haley for many years and have always believed in his talent. His win at Daytona was a turning point, not just for his career, but also for our organization.”
“We’ve both grown since that day, and Justin has continued to prove his talent in the Cup Series. He returns to a team that has evolved since he left. Reuniting now, rather than waiting until 2025, gives us a head start as we prepare for Daytona next February.”
