Daniel Suarez Sounds Off on NASCAR After Being Caught in Phoenix Wreck

Daniel Suárez has had a frustrating start to his 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season. After finishing 13th in the Daytona 500, he was involved in crashes at Atlanta and Circuit of the Americas, finishing 33rd and 36th, respectively.

At Phoenix, Suárez was in position for a solid finish after securing eighth in Stage 2. However, his race took a turn for the worse on Lap 215 of the final stage when he was caught in a crash triggered by Katherine Legge, who was making her first Cup Series start. Frustrated, Suárez voiced his displeasure over the team radio, blaming slower cars for the incident.

The following day, Suárez addressed the crash in a Vlog on his YouTube channel. Speaking with his wife, Julia Piquet, he clarified that he has nothing against Legge personally and supports women in racing. However, he criticized NASCAR for allowing inexperienced drivers to compete at the Cup Series level, calling it a safety risk. He specifically pointed to high-speed tracks like Las Vegas, where the series is set to race next.

The NASCAR Cup Series returns to action at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday, with coverage on FS1 beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET.
