An on-track incident prompted NASCAR star Ross Chastain to make a scathing remark about a competitor in the Cup Series

Chastain finished sixth in Friday night’s Truck Series race at the Florida track, but there was a twist to the event. Indeed, with Brad Keselowski in the booth, Joey Logano, and Kevin Harvick providing coverage, the FOX telecast was exclusively about drivers. Carson Hocevar and Austin Cindric were down on pit road pretending to be reporters, and it was during their conversation that Chastain used the occasion to make a jab…at Hocevar himself. Hocevar questioned Chastain about racing in the Truck Series in the No. 44 for Niece Motorsports while they were on pit road, but the “Melon Man” made a candid remark at the conclusion of the interview.

Chastain made a playful jab at the 22-year-old by saying, “I’d say I’m the most relieved though, that you’ve got a microphone, not a steering wheel in your hand,” to Hocevar. Carson Hocevar gets a dig from Ross Chastain. Driving the No. 77 for Spire Motorsports, Hocevar has a history of upsetting his competitors. This year in Atlanta, he was the driver behind Kyle Busch, Ryan Blaney, and Chastain in the same race. “Oh, we’re [him and Cocevar] good because I see it for the bigger picture that Carson is going to be around for a long time because the talent is there to do a lot of great things in the sport,” Chastain said during a press conference following the event.

“However, I don’t have to agree with his methods on the track.” I don’t have to agree with it because he simply gave me a chance to win. In order to win in Atlanta, he single-handedly eliminated the top car from the race, and I disagree with his strategy. Following his aggressive tactics on the track, two-time Cup Series champion Busch had promised to destroy Hocevar in that same Atlanta race. “Go tell that 77 he’s done that same damn move ten times,” said Busch on the Atlanta radio. “I’m over him, regardless of whether I destroy the entire damn field.
