The 13-year-old grandson of Dale Earnhardt claims a significant victory as NASCAR’s future appears bright

After Wyatt Miller won his first Limited Late Model race at Hickory Motor Speedway, NASCAR has a new member of the Earnhardt family establishing a name for himself. The 13-year-old Miller is the son of Kelley Earnhardt-Miller, who is the sister of the renowned Dale Earnhardt Jr. and the son of the great Dale Earnhardt. The Earnhardt family is still well-known in NASCAR; over Memorial Day weekend, Amazon Prime Video will release a documentary series about the late Dale Sr., and after competing in the Daytona 500, Dale Jr. and Kelley may lead their JR Motorsports team to the Cup Series.

However, after Miller grabbed the checkered flag at the famous 0.363-mile circuit renowned as the “Birthplace of the NASCAR stars,” the family legacy now has a new identity that is creating waves on the tarmac. Miller began on pole and it was only his second start. Prior to Zach Bringer taking the lead until his engine failed on Lap 32, he held the lead early in the 40-lap race. Then, in his Bass Pro Shops-sponsored No. 73 car, Miller took the lead and managed to hold off Aiden King on the last lap to win.

Miller remarked, “We had a really good car,” in Victory Lane. “Just as I was catching Zach, he blew up.” Aiden may have attempted to rattle my cage, but it was unsuccessful. Both Dale Earnhardt and Dale Jr. competed at Hickory as they advanced through the ranks, and Dale’s father, Ralph, was a five-time track champion.
