Dale Jr. Declares the Undisputed Champion of “Running the Wall”

Kyle Larson delivered an exciting performance at Homestead-Miami Speedway, winning the Straight Talk Wireless 400. His victory reaffirmed his reputation as one of the best at “running the wall,” a racing technique highly praised by NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr.

On his Dale Jr. Download podcast, Earnhardt Jr. called Homestead one of the top tracks for running the wall, emphasizing that no one does it better than Larson. He explained that while many drivers hesitate to enter the turn right against the wall due to the risk of hitting it, Larson commits fully from the start. This allows him to accelerate sooner than his competitors, giving him a crucial speed advantage in the middle of the corner.

Larson’s win continues his streak of securing at least one NASCAR Cup Series victory per season for the past five years, further establishing his status as one of the sport’s top drivers—despite being under 33 years old. After the race, he shared how motivated he was to win, aiming to dominate from the start. However, after initially struggling and losing positions, he adjusted his approach and focused on working his way to the front.

With this victory, Larson now sits second in the NASCAR Cup Series regular season standings, trailing only William Byron.
