Northern Fancon 2025: Stars, Sci-Fi, and Surprises Light Up Prince George

Northern Fancon is back for its 11th year, taking over Prince George’s CN Centre from Friday to Sunday, and organizers say this year will be the biggest yet. With a jam-packed lineup of celebrity guests, workshops, and nearly 200 vendors offering everything from collectibles to rare merchandise, Fancon 2025 is set to thrill fans of all genres.

The guest list spans galaxies and genres, featuring Sean Gunn from Guardians of the Galaxy and Gilmore Girls, Scott Patterson from Gilmore Girls, Reka Sharma and Michael Hogan from Battlestar Galactica, and local talents Keilani Rose and Blair Lamora from Shoresy. The mix promises something for everyone—from sci-fi lovers to small-town drama fans.

Organizer Norm Coyne highlighted the growing Indigenous presence at this year’s Fancon, which has prompted a reimagining of the event’s layout. “There’s a very natural Indigenous element that has surfaced for this year,” he said. With stars like Graham Greene, Keilani Rose, Blair Lamora, and screenwriter Ryan Atimoyoo, the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation will host a dedicated creative hub in the CN Centre atrium—a meaningful integration of culture and creativity.

Coyne is also excited about the immersive film industry experiences planned for attendees. Highlights include a speed-matching workshop for aspiring filmmakers and Speak Up, a voice acting contest where the winner will receive professional training and industry exposure.

Another emotional highlight of the weekend is the debut of a documentary trailer titled Good to be Seen, which follows actor Michael Hogan’s inspiring recovery journey after a serious brain injury. The trailer marks his return to acting with his first on-screen role since the accident, and Fancon will be the first to unveil it.

A surprise hit this year has been the Gilmore Girls fandom, which has made its presence known in Prince George. “I didn’t realize that Sean Gunn was on Gilmore Girls,” Coyne admitted. “When we booked Scott Patterson, who played Luke, it absolutely exploded. They’re teaming up all three days for photo ops, and the fan response has been incredible.”

As Fancon 2025 gets ready to open its doors, Coyne urges newcomers and longtime fans alike to take part. “Live events like this take a lot of heart. They don’t exist without people showing up,” he said. “This would be the perfect year to come if you haven’t before—because this is the biggest one yet.”
