Cowboys’ Dak Prescott Set to Earn the Highest Salary in the NFL

Quarterback Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys has agreed to a contract deal that would make him the highest-paid player in NFL history.

Prescott, 31, has agreed to a four-year contract extension allegedly worth $240 million (£183 million), of which $231 million (£176 million) is guaranteed money in addition to a $80 million (£61 million) signing bonus.

Prescott will be the highest-paid player in NFL history at $60 million (£46 million) each season, surpassing the $55 million (£42 million) average annual compensation on new contracts inked by Trevor Lawrence, Jordan Love, and Joe Burrow. At just $1 million (£760,000) more than the Cleveland Browns gave Deshaun Watson in 2022, the guaranteed amount of $231 million is also a record.

Just hours before Dallas was scheduled to begin their 2024 season with a trip to Cleveland to play Watson’s Browns, word of the agreement, which will last until the end of the 2028 season, broke.

selected for the Pro Bowl three times After finishing second in the league’s Most Valuable Player voting and leading the league in touchdown passes with 410 completions, Prescott is coming off a stellar year that came at a perfect time.

All summer long, Dallas owner Jerry Jones was questioned about why Prescott and standout wide receiver CeeDee Lamb had not received contract extensions. After a protracted standoff with the Cowboys, Lamb agreed to a four-year, $136 million (£104 million) contract, securing his quarterback’s future in Dallas as well.

Throughout his tenure with the Cowboys, Prescott has been a prolific passer who has guided the team to the postseason three times in a row, including three straight seasons with twelve wins in the regular season.

The issue has been winning in the postseason, as Prescott has only won two of his seven postseason contests and has not advanced past the divisional round. ‘America’s Team,’ who haven’t won a Super Bowl in nearly three decades, is desperate for some victory and is now counting on Prescott to be their leader.
