Cleveland — The Cleveland Browns suffered a defeat in their season opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon, but the setback might extend beyond Week 1 as three key players could be sidelined for an extended period due to injuries.
Tight end David Njoku, defensive tackle Maurice Hurst II, and linebacker Mohamoud Diabate are all considered “week-to-week” with their respective injuries, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski.
Njoku exited the game with an ankle injury that is believed to be a high ankle sprain, according to a source familiar with the situation. Stefanski confirmed they would monitor his progress but declined to provide further details.
Hurst also suffered an ankle injury during the game and is likewise deemed “week-to-week.”
Diabate left Sunday’s game with a hip injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the contest following an on-field evaluation.
As the Browns prepare for their upcoming road game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, they will closely monitor the recovery of Njoku, Hurst, and Diabate in hopes that none will miss significant time.
