Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy entered this season under pressure to prove that the Cowboys could succeed in the playoffs, but a 1-2 start has only intensified the scrutiny on him.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Ryan Gurzi, the top available coaching free agent, Bill Belichick, could be monitoring the situation closely and entering any potential talks with significant leverage.
“Belichick could lay out a list of demands to take over in 2025,” Gurzi wrote on September 22. “The current performance on the field offers little reason for optimism…
While he enjoys the spotlight, he understands how fast a Super Bowl window can close. This is why Belichick could potentially wrestle some control away from Jerry Jones, much like Bill Parcells did in 2003.”
Belichick, now 72, parted ways with the New England Patriots this past offseason after 24 seasons and six Super Bowl championships.
McCarthy’s seat is getting hotter by the game.
