Amidst the inevitable uproar over Andrea Kimi Antonelli’s approach to the Formula 1 grid, 2025 rookie Jack Doohan took over the Alpine seat, replacing Esteban Ocon, with much less fanfare. This is an ideal situation for the 21-year-old Australian and could allow him to continue his learning process under some scrutiny, although he will certainly be in the spotlight when he makes his debut in his native Melbourne. No one could be prouder than Mick Doohan, five-time 500cc MotoGP World Champion (1994-98), who led his son to the highest level of a very different sport that weekend.
