I like to move things, and Broadway Boy has two things in common; Trainer and introductory course.
Before I Like To Move It win the Grade 2 Novice Hurdle, Greatwood Hurdle and Grade 2 Kingwell Hurdle, He began his career over hurdles at Worcester in October 2021, while Broadway Boy began his Novice Chase campaign with an easy success on the left I did. . – Manual route.
This link is going to be a bit of a joke, but Nigel Twiston-Davies isn’t afraid to send a good link to Worcester.
Five-year-old Potters Charm, who cleared a hurdle on his riverside debut, could have another smart added to that list as he continues his unbeaten run in the Alastair Down Press Room Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham on Friday.
His jumping could use some tweaking but the £105,000 purchase has a big engine and deserves his chance in Graded Company soon.
Meanwhile, post-race comments from assistant trainer Willie Twiston-Davies would have you believe the horse was the second coming when he said: “I haven’t spoken for a while.
“I used to tell people that this horse had been on my radar for a while.
“Dad and I love everything he does around the house. At home he only does what is asked of him, which is a sign of a very good horse”.
The Grade 1 Novice Hurdle or the Grade 2 Ballymore Novice Hurdle at the November meeting at Cheltenham will be the next targets. But he should keep an eye on the Grade 1 Novice Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.
Excellent direction
Like his former boss, Harry Derham is a great goal coach. Coming to training relatively under his own name, he has shown the ability to win good races. This was shown in Saturday’s Masterson Holdings Hurdle alongside Givemefive and won with an impressive turn. The former assistant trainer to Paul Nicholls trained the four-year-old on a flat in Haydock to see if he was fit for the Masterson Holdings Hurdle and told us all about the plans. Sometimes this game is easy, right?
So is there a Derham Master Plan we should be looking at in the future?
Meanwhile, Imagine, formerly trained by Gordon Elliott, will compete in the Paddy Power Gold Cup at next month’s meeting and is run from 20/1 to 8/1.
“It’s already making me nervous,” Derham said when asked about the race. “I’m very happy with the race.
“He’s a nice horse, so it would be nice to get him.
“For Givemefive, they could look at the Betfair hurdle as a long-term goal. Derham sent Brentford Hope to the game last year but didn’t play until late on, so could be looking for redemption this season.
One to watch
There are plenty of notable defeats for the horses that ran at Cheltenham last weekend, but I’ll give them a shout.
Le Milos ran nicely in the 3m1f handicap chase on Saturday, catching and dipping the third to last fence.
The nine-year-old has improved dramatically since arriving at Dan Skelton’s yard in 2022, with his best performance coming in the Coral Gold Cup at Newbury.
He won off 146 that day and Skelton began to dream of a Grand National, but he was unable to enjoy his experience at Aintree later that season.
He has improved since then, but some inconsistencies have seen him drop to 147 and a handicap could drop him again for Saturday’s effort.
He won the 2022 Coral Gold Cup as a good horse and, after an early run, can he return to the Berkshire track later this season and get back to the winning fences he is used to? If you keep getting your handicap down to about 140, you’ll get back to a good handicap.
