Amazon MGM Studios has picked up American Speed a new feature film starring Tom Holland and Austin Butler. The movie will be produced by Charles Roven, known for his work on Oppenheimer, through his production company, Atlas Entertainment, with RD Whittington and Douglas Banker. Ryan Sanak will also serve as an executive producer for Atlas.
Scripted by Dan Wiedenhaupt, American Speed is inspired by true events, focusing on the Whittington brothers-three race car drivers, two of whom were involved in a major 1980s scandal within the IMSA racing circuit. The scandal saw multiple drivers accused of funding their racing careers through illega means, including drug trafficking, tax evasion, and money laundering.
The film has yet to announce a director or release strategy.

He’s also set to appear in Sony’s Spider-Man 4, expected that same year.
Butler’s upcoming roles include Caught Stealing, directed by Darren Aronofsky, and Eddington, directe by Ari Aster. This year, he starred in Dune: Part Two and The Bikeriders, and he received an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Elvis Presley.
