Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons celebrated his team’s 34-26 victory over former defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and the Washington Commanders on Sunday.

Quinn, who spent three seasons as the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator, became the head coach of the Commanders in the offseason. He and Parsons shared a close bond, with Parsons emerging as one of the NFL’s top defenders largely under Quinn’s tutelage.

Following the game, Parsons spoke with NBC’s Maria Taylor and revealed the message he gave Quinn.

“I told him how much I appreciate him and miss him. He said we’ll see each other again in a month. I know he’s looking forward to that,” Parsons shared. “It’s going to be another intense matchup that comes down to the wire. Dan doesn’t give up easily. He’s rallying his team, and they’re a really strong football squad. It’s going to be a fun fight.”

The Cowboys’ defense has shown some vulnerabilities without Quinn, although injuries to key players, including Parsons, have also played a role. However, the defense looked more like the dominant unit under Quinn in the win against the Commanders. Dallas forced three turnovers, with Parsons leading the charge, recording two sacks.

Micah Parsons Faces a Future Decision with Cowboys

Parsons is under contract with the Cowboys through the 2025 season. With Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb signing significant extensions this season, Parsons is expected to be the next to receive a lucrative deal, likely making him one of the highest-paid non-quarterbacks in NFL history.

Since entering the league, Parsons has never finished lower than third in Defensive Player of the Year voting, and he has recorded 45.5 sacks in 56 career games.

If an extension with the Cowboys doesn’t materialize, Parsons could enter free agency, potentially exploring other destinations. Last offseason, when Quinn’s name was linked to coaching openings, Parsons joked about following Quinn to his next job.

“He might take me with him, you never know,” Parsons quipped in January.

Despite the speculation, Parsons made it clear after Sunday’s game that his relationship with Quinn remains strong.

“I told him it’s all love. It will always be like that between us,” Parsons said.

Micah Parsons Dismisses Talk of Cowboys Tanking

The Cowboys improved to 4-7 with the victory over the Commanders, snapping a five-game losing streak. While a loss could have boosted Dallas’ draft position, Parsons is not buying into the idea of the team tanking.

“I’m not done yet. I don’t plan on tanking,” Parsons declared. “If the higher-ups are looking for a draft pick, I hope that’s ruined, because we’ve got a lot of football left to play. As long as I’m part of this team, we’re always going to fight.”

The Cowboys now have a short week to prepare for a Thanksgiving Day matchup with the New York Giants, who have lost six straight, including a 30-7 defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
